What's going on around the place?
Sunspace Café at Doonan has a volunteer-driven vegetable garden and a friendly eatery, as well as hosting great events.
Yandina Community Gardens demonstrate organic food production using Permaculture design principles.
· Water-wise tropical vegetables are propagated in the nursery from stock grown in the gardens and are available for sale to the public.
· The water-efficient aquaponics project produces organic vegetables and fish.
· ‘Sustainable living’ projects demonstrate energy-efficiency and the use of renewable resources, for example the solar hot water and photo-voltaic systems on The Blue House roof and the’ straw bale shelter’ for the garden volunteers.
Permaculture Noosa hold meetings every third Thursday of the month at the Cooroy State Primary School Hall, Elm St, Cooroy (on the way to Pomona) Doors open at 5.30pm when meals will be available before the meeting. A market takes place where surplus home grown pro-
duce and plants are shared by giving, exchanging or selling. Entry is a gold coin donation for non-members. The meeting begins at 6.30pm and the night is complete with a “bring a plate” shared supper at 8pm. All welcome. For further info phone Bill, 5472 5192.
Transition Sunshine Coast "This exciting community movement is inspiring people to stand up, get together and create the future they want.
It works because it provides the tools and skills to make that happen.
It works because it's about cooperation and collaboration.
It works because it enables and supports people to do what they are passionate about and what they feel called to do. It's about community action in our quest to move from fossil fuel dependency to local resilience."
